Cupcake Bake Off Winner

On February 16, 2022 teams representing Greater Lafayette Career Academy, Harrison High School, Jefferson High School and McCutcheon High School showcased their best cupcake recipes at a public Tasting Party. A panel of judges, include local pastry chefs, selected a Best of Show winner. Congratulations to Team Harrison. They received a $1,000 prize, courtesy of Tate & Lyle. The People’s Choice winner, based on tip jar totals, was awarded to Team McCutcheon.

The Tasting Party was a culminating event in a month long program that featured classroom visits from Tate & Lyle personnel who shared information on products made at and career opportunities within their organization. Culinary teams were provided an ingredient kit with several corn starches and liquid sweeteners, and at least one of the items had to be incorporated in their cupcake recipe. This year a cupcake filling was also required.
