Map Skills with Sid and Manny Spring 2019
From the moment the students turned the corner to our classroom this year, they knew dinosaurs would be a part of their new experience, from the giant T-Rex to the models and books stacked in the Diner Museum, the adventure was set. Learning about map skills via dinosaurs was the focus. Our journey started as we learned basic map skills to read maps and ultimately find the bones of our favorite beasts worldwide.
The students had the opportunity to research dinosaurs that have been located around the world. Pulling map skills together with the love of these giants was the best part. From science labs to simply pouring through the plethora of fiction and nonfiction resources brought the world of the unknown to our classroom. Students did nonfiction research projects about specific dinosaurs and created projects to go with them. They made maps of where these dinosaurs lived.
